The future of cars is electric, and we can fit your charge point at home or at work.
We provide installation of electric vehicle charging points in Ampthill and surrounding areas, at your home or at a business.
A free survey first
We will carry out a free survey of your property to find the best option for you, and check your supply. You may need changes to your supply fuse size or earthing before a charger goes in.
Fast chargers, fitted properly
Fast chargers are the main type to install at your home or business, and the type we install most commonly. They're capable of charging a typical car to 100% within 8 hours.
Usually in a day or less
Once your electrical system is declared adequate for an electric vehicle charge point we can typically install one in a day or less. This is confirmed at the initial survey.
Home or business
We fit charge points at homes and at businesses across Ampthill and the surrounding areas. We always recommend a dedicated charge point over a slow lead from a 13 amp socket.
Andersen EV
Registered affiliate installers, so we can officially install Andersen chargers and offer full technical support where necessary. The Andersen A2 comes in single phase (7kW) and 3 phase (22kW) versions, with the tethered cable hidden inside the unit.
OZEV approved installer
We are approved installers under the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles scheme for electric vehicle charge points.

Whether that be an additional light fitting, a socket or a complete rewire, we can help you.
Consumer Unit Upgrade
This is the unit that controls the electricity that comes into your property. Most customers will know it as a fuse box; nowadays they are generally referred to as a consumer unit. It provides vital protection from shock risk and potential fire, and we can upgrade your old fuse box to a modern consumer unit with that important safety feature.
Any doubts about your existing fuse box? Don't hesitate to contact us.
Additional Lights and Sockets
Lots of older properties had very few socket outlets. We can add extra sockets around your home, so you're not overloading the ones you have with extension leads and adapters, or fit new decorative ones.
Smart lighting and LED technology, including the ever popular LED downlights.
New Circuits
A dedicated circuit for an electric shower or a new kitchen appliance such as an induction hob or oven. A faulty circuit that needs replacing, such as an immersion heater. Power to a remote garden office if you're working from home.
We can help with all of these.
Smoke Alarms
Protecting your property and family is important. If the worst was to happen you will be glad you installed a detection system. We fit a wide range of detection products, including smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms.
MP Electrical Services are an approved expert AICO installer.

Commercial Services
The same work for businesses: consumer unit upgrades, extra lights and sockets, new circuits and smoke, heat and carbon monoxide detection. We can undertake work in domestic, commercial or industrial environments.
Fuses regularly blowing, or lights flickering? Don't hesitate to contact us.
Ask about commercial workAttention to detail
We have an attention to detail in the services and products we install. We are reliable, honest and respectful of people's property.
Reliable
We will turn up as agreed and let you know if there are any delays. Throughout your project we will update you on progress.
Customer focused
We only use the best quality materials. We will listen to your needs and adapt the project to provide the best possible outcome.
Not sure how safe your wiring is? An Electrical Installation Condition Report will tell you.
If you are concerned about the safety of your electrical installation, the best way to check it is to have an EICR carried out by a registered competent electrician. We carry them out to the latest edition of the regulations in force at the time.
Homes
every 10 years
In the UK an EICR should be carried out every 10 years for a domestic property, and potentially more often for business premises.
Landlord inspections
Required by law
From the 1st June 2020 private landlords are required by law to have a satisfactory report for the condition of their electrical installation.
What does it involve?
We test all the wiring within the premises, which in the average house is about 8-10 circuits. Some or all of the power will be turned off for a period of time so it can be carried out safely, and part of the test is a visual inspection.

What customers say about Martyn
I wanted a specific (S&P) EV charger but a local and accredited fitter. I found Martyn through the Anderson website, and from first contact I knew he would do the job and do it well. He visited us prior to the install and provided options to consider - he even suggested how we could run from our existing distribution board meaning no ugly cable on the outside. He then arranged delivery of the charging unit and came within a few days to fix it. Such a professional - neat, tidy, knowledgeable and really treated the install as if it were his own home.
We will definitely use him again - in fact he is already booked in for another job! Can not recommend enough... Martyn is certainly the electrician I would call again and again for knowledge, professionalism and completeness.
Recently had an Andersen Quartz EV charger fitted to the house.
Martyn completed all necessary documents and made the installation easy for us. Great job completed and it looks good too.
Very good EV charger installation using quality components. Martyn also tidied up wiring left by previous electrician. He is very conscientious and his work is of a high standard. Highly recommended.
I was looking for a local electrician to fit an EV charger I bought, and I wanted our consumer unit changing at the same time. Martyn was very communicative and turned up when he said he would. He completed the work as well as fixing some remedial items that we found weren't up to standard. I would highly recommend Martyn for any electrical work anyone is looking to get carried out.
Never having heard or used Martyn before, I initially made contact for advice on EV charger models and best location for one on our driveway. Martyn was happy to come out and go through some options and based on that initial interaction I had no hesitation in choosing Martyn for the install.
As I confidently expected, the install was completed very professionally, conscientiously and, most importantly, I found Martyn to be an overall really nice guy to deal with.
I therefore certainly have no problem recommending Martyn to anyone, and I definitely won't be looking anywhere else for any electrical work I may need done in the future.
Local trades keep coming back. Integral Property Services (Luton) Ltd and Matte Interiors Ltd have both used us regularly for a number of years for electrical work on bathrooms, kitchens and property renovations, and closer to home we've upgraded consumer units and added outside lighting for a homeowner in Maulden.
